Carhartt jackets tend to run a little large, but this one fits a bit slimmer. That’s not a bad thing, as this is a soft shell jacket and that’s sort of the the whole point and style. It’s not too tight or small, which is what I was worried about.I own several Carhartt jackets, and this is perfect for cool days and nights. I needed a lightweight water resistant and wind proof jacket to get me through October to late Fall here in Tennessee, and this jacket did the trick. As far as comfort rating and temperature, I can wear this with only a T-shirt and sit on my porch and stay totally warm from 55 degrees and up. No activity in other words. If I’m mowing or walking and moving, this jacket keeps me comfortable down to about 50 degrees. If you layer with a lightweight cotton/nylon blend sweater, add 10 degrees to the above assessment. Comfy down to 45 degrees. If I wear an actual shirt designed to retain warmth (a layering shirt made for that purpose), I can add another 5 degrees of warmth. The material inside the jacket is a tiny grid of micro fleece. But the jacket does a fantastic job at blocking the wind and shedding rain, and that alone adds comfort value in cooler temperatures.I love it so much that I’m ordering others in different colors. My only complaint is that it tends to ride up if driving. No big deal as I just pull it back down when I’m out of my truck. Think Captain Picard and his uniform top. (For those that get the reference from Star Trek TNG.)It has great mobility in the arms, too.I love it and I’d highly recommend it to anyone looking for a cool weather lightweight jacket that’s perfect for those cooler days in the Fall and Spring where a heavier coat is “too warm”.Edit* Five month review updateI’ve worn this amazing jacket almost daily when the weather warranted a light jacket. It has held up exceptionally well, and still looks and feels brand new. The zippers work great, the drawstring hem works great, and the hood is useful and large enough to actually protect the wearer.4.75 stars out of 5.
