Shoulder width 47inChest 41.5inFinger Tips to Armpit 26inWaist 37inTypically, my coat/jacket size is large. I ordered a large and it was enormous. I reordered a medium and that fits well. In my case, I'm still able to layer with the coat fitting nicely. What I like:- Tough outer shell- Sherpa lining is soft and warm- Outer pockets are lined- You can tighten the coat at about waist level for a snug fit- Main zipper is sturdy and easy to grab with gloves on- Comfortable- Two inside pockets. One zippered, one velcro.- Looks good- Pricing is great for the quality of the construction (imo)- Not made in China (it's made in Mexico)What I don't like:- Sizing. Seriously, which population of people are they using for their sizing? I'm assuming a race of giant Nordic men that rode the T-Rex like horses and went extinct many eons ago.- I don't like the velcro on one of the inside pockets. This coat feels high quality. Only time will tell but, I'm betting this coat will take a lot of abuse and last a long time. The pricing is great for what you get. I've spent a lot more money on other coats and those other coats don't feel as durable as this one. As many people have commented, order a size down. I'm extremely happy with this purchase and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a durable, nice looking coat.Really love the style look/ fit of this carhartt jacket. Bought it for my son. It's really well made.. A very strong jacket. Nice thick solid material but not stiff & rough.. it's soft and the inner sherpa lining is ultra soft. Like all of carhartts attire/products this jacket will easily last a lifetime. Never have to worry about getting wet in the rain or cold in the snow. I've been searching and watching waiting for the light brown to become available in size L but it's been several SEVERAL months and still nothing. I recently a notification that the dark brown (Sandstone C61) had become available so i quickly bought it. My son is very happy with it. He's tall, has long arms, a long torso, broad shoulders, broad chest, and is physically fit (bulky). The jacket fits him perfectly. The length is exactly as described.. comfortably fits his chest & arms giving him free movement. It's not loose or baggy nor tight and restrictive. Fits great at the waist area. Just an all around really great jacket at an even better price. As soon as the lighter brown becomes available in the same style.. if it ever does I'll purchase that one for him also. Not that he needs both jackets as just the one will last forever but it's always nice to have a variety of colors to choose from.I work construction and Carhartt is my go to when looking for a jacket. First off, I listened to all the other reviewers who said to buy a size down and that was a mistake. I'm 6' 195 lbs and wear a large in everything, the first jacket I ordered was a medium. While the lengths was spot on, it was way too constrictive to the point of uncomfortable. And there was no way I was going to be able to wear a sweatshirt or hoodie underneath either. Returned the medium and got a large and it fit perfectly. As far as people saying that the shoulders and chest are too bulky...well yea...its a work coat. This is not the coat your going to wear out to a fancy dinner or a wedding, its for working in. Its designed to allow you to move freely, especially in the shoulders and chest, while you work. This coat is replacing my old Arctic Quilt lined jacket that lasted me 6 years (which I still have and wear sometimes, but the cuffs had torn on both sleeves). I would say this is just as warm as the Quilt, keeps the cold and the wind out during the Northeast winters. My only complaints are that the pockets don't seem deep enough and its a bit too long past the waist and makes it hard to access the pockets of your jeans. All in all, you can't beat a Carhartt. My other Carhartt, the J140 Duck Active Quilted Lined Jacket is also a size small but it feels like a very large medium or a slightly small large. I wear a size 38 suit and this C61 coat feels like a slim fit 38. It's not too tight where I'm uncomfortable to sit but it's not too loose where I feel like I'm swimming in it. There's still room for a snug sweatshirt underneath on those really cold nights. As I add to my Carhartt collection, I've been more and more perplexed by their sizing. I bought a V02 Vest and the medium fits me well. Small was almost too tight to zip up. The J140 jacket runs extremely large where I wish there was a size smaller than small. This C61 in small is a perfect fit. It runs a bit slimmer than the V02 Vest. It's not the warmest jacket. It's not toasty warm like the Active jacket. It's a great coat to layer with when working outside. I wish the arms were sherpa lined instead of quilts. It's not as warm as the sherpa body. The nylon quilted arms feel comparable to that of the J140 but it's not as warm. Don't notice a thing when I'm working though. It's a fantastic coat to just grab and go when you're gonna be in and out of cars and buildings. And speaking of going in and out of cars, the double zipper is unbelievably convenient for this. Before getting in, just zip the bottom up a little. The outter chest pocket is a big plus for me. I often keep my phone in there so that I can listen to it. And the lined pockets... that's the best part! The pockets are sherpa lined and definitely a welcome feature. The J140 isn't lined and I was quite disappointed with that. The V02 vest has an insulation that works even better than the sherpa lining in this C61. The freedom of movement in the arms is excellent. I know I'm missing a lot of details but I'm sure that others have already written about them. The dark brown is a very handsome color but I love this coat so much that I may get the black as well.Carhartt coats are still cut large to layer up, and to be worked in. The Sherpa ridge coat I purchased is replacing another 15 year old well worn ridge coat. These coats are heavy, very warm, and easy to work in.This coat has so many positives going for it, but for me there is one negative.... I am a medium and this jacket in medium is way too large in the shoulder. The sleeves are 33/34 which is fine for me, and although is large enough throughout (it should be as it's a work jacket), the shoulders are just too big....Nice coat with lots of room for layers underneath. Body feels boxy, as does the shoulder area - this is to allow for movement and/or layering, I assume. The whole thing does pull up if you reach overhead. The sleeve length is great. Given the cut, I would call this a "dead-of-winter" coat. It is already pretty warm and it fits quite large on it's own, but fits better when it is piled on top of a few layers. It does not fit like the images shown.I'm 5,10" and ordered large and it fits perfect. Im 185lbs. Shoulders are a bit wide but it's also stuff new and they will say down. I previously wore the tall version at work and it was to long. This size is perfect. Leaves a bit of room for a hoody if needed. This is the 2nd Carhartt I've owned, and they are absolutely bulletproof. As other people have mentioned, it fits a little large, but that is entirely for layering. They're extremely durable, very well made, and very warm. The 2xl fit perfectly. The shoulders are wide, but in our case it works since he has very large shoulders. Great quality. An excellent jacket.
