I love this rain jacket. I've had it since 2019. It's comfortable to wear except for one tiny detail...it is NOT breathable. At least it's not if you're doing anything physical. If you're just wearing it to do your daily stuff, it's fine. But I brought it to Europe this summer as my rain jacket, and I sweated like crazy in it. Central Europe is like the east coast--humid as well as hot. Perhaps, to be fair, the black color absorbed the heat. Everything else on this jacket is great! I prefer it to other brands because of the metal double zipper (that won't come apart when you bend over) and the multiple pockets. There's one inner pocket that has a hook&loop closure that's annoying, because you no sooner have it open to put something in there and it closes again. I also like and use the nylon cuffs that extend and hook over your thumbs on cooler days keeping the drafts out. So, IMHO this rain jacket is not for summer heat.I’m in AZ and of course it’s hot but cools down. It’s perfect for night time rain and trips to the northern parts of AZ. Waterproof so far. I ordered my size and it was pretty close…a tad snug in the wrists. Definitely would buy again!I absolutely love this cute coat!! I found it in our local farm supply store for $150, and wanted to buy it sooooooo bad, but bought my son a birthday present instead... darn kids! LOL! I came home and looked on Amazon and found it! New it was $129, and I happened to see there was a used one for $89 so I jumped on it! It came perfectly packaged, still had tags on it and was in perfect condition! I have no idea what was used about it, but I sure am happy with this purchase!! As for the coat--it is excellent quality that you would expect from Carhartt! Very nice heavier quality and I know will last forever. I bought the XL, and I am 5:6 and 170lbs, and it fits perfect! Maybe just a titch too big, but otherwise perfect! I wanted it to come down far enough to cover my stomach, which it does, but just barely, that is the only thing I wish was just a few inches longer. It comes down to the bottom of my zipper on my jeans, the back is a bit longer. I love the end of the sleeves, they have a stretchy material with a thumb hole that will prevent cold air from going up the sleeve. This coat has pockets all over! If you need more pockets than this coat has, you either have too much junk, or need to get a huge purse! :) I got the dark wine color, and it is a beautiful plum/dark brownish color, not a bright obnoxiously loud color, but a very pretty earthy plum color. I was torn btw the olive green and the wine, but got the wine and love it! Wish I could afford both! :) I could not be happier with this coat and I highly recommend it! It is replacing my winter coat, and I live in northern Wisconsin so temps get way way way below 0, and this will keep me warm, and keep out the wind! The hood is perfect too!! Love it!! :)Best rain and weather proof jacket I've been able to find. Fits normal. I sized up in case I had thicker shirts on under the jacket. This jacket is perfect for spring or fall with a sweater underneath or even without. I wore it without a sweater in 40 degree weather and didn't feel cold. I bought an XL. I'm 5'2 and 200 lbs heavy with wide shoulders and narrow hips (think of an apple shape) I always have issues with jackets or tops fitting me properly because of this but that wasn't an issue with this jacket. I can wrap my arms around without feeling like its going to tear apart. Has lots of pockets and good for rain. My only two issues is that this jacket picks up lint like crazy so if you buy it in black color, beware. Second it fits me narrow in the hip area and my hips are narrow to begin with which is odd. I don't think this jacket was specifically made for females. I think they took the male version design and said lets label it for females and sell it this way.Ordered XXL (I normally wear XL) in black. While I could have gone down to the XL, I’m glad I got the XXL so I can wear sweatshirts & heavy fleece under it. Also, I prefer things a little loose anyway.Get this coat! It’s worth every penny. The way it’s constructed, I should get many years out of it.What I love:1.) Arms are just right both in width & length.2.) Fits great across my shoulders & chest. I don’t feel restricted.3.) It’s longer in the back so covers my bum.4.) It zips and buttons!5.) The material feels substantial. It’s some sort of canvas, yet it’s not stiff.6,) The hood isn’t just for looks.. it actually works.. and it’s detachable. Though I don’t see the need to detach it since it lays flat.7.) Pockets! Pockets everywhere!8.) It’s dressy enough that I can wear it to the office, yet rugged enough to also wear on the field.9.) It does have thumb hole sleeves, but they aren’t stiff and can easily be pushed back into the sleeves when you don’t want to use them & they’re not in the way.10.) It’s a raincoat. A very cool looking & functional rain coat. But also a winter coat, I think. I will wear a fleece under it during the winter. What I don’t like about it:1.) Nothing. I don’t have a bad thing to say about this coat!Thank you, Carhartt, for making clothes for us ladies!UPDATE: Three years later..I'm still in love with this coat and wear it near daily during the fall, winter and spring months here in Texas. While it is not a winter coat per se, you can layer fleece under it and still use it as a winter coat. Why? Because the outside does a fantastic job blocking not only rain, but wind, too! Surprisingly, Texas gets more wind than anyplace else I've been and it cuts through you. However, wearing this coat? Not a problem! You stay warm and toasty.I've also washed it several times (hung to dry - no dryer) and it's held up just like new.Thinking about buying another color. Really want the green one, but it's out of stock. Please restock and I'll buy it! :)I love this jacket. Lots of pockets inside and out. Also, the hood can come off which is great - I don’t generally wear coats with hoods but it’s nice ti have, just in case.Great jacket and I love the colorFlattering, looks good enough for dress orcasual, durable , fabulous fit and feel. Love itAfter returning the same coat in two other sizes, I finally own this coat in the perfect size. For reference my bra size is 42DDD. I typically wear a xl or Xxl legging and a 2x coat/tops. First, I purchased the 3x, which was like a tent on me. Then I ordered the xxl in regular sizing, which smooshed my chest down, but fit my waist fine. I then ordered the xxl-plus which came with tags that read 2x-Women's Plus and it fits perfect with room to wear a sweatshirt underneath. I am so happy with the fit, the numerous pockets, the quality, and the thumb hole cuffs.I have been looking for just this jacket for years.....My son has one similar, that is way too big on me and I have looked all over for one just like it.What do I like about it? It has fasteners as well as a stout zipper. The hood is fitted around the face and the neck is high up to secure the hood in place (very handy in a high wind which we get here in British Columbia all the time) The jacket is shaped straight, like a man's, which allows for more freedom of movement. I like loose garments which don't bind. Another very handy thing is that it has 7 good sized pockets which are very well placed (not giving it a bulky look at all) I ordered an XL when I usually take a L. Excellent for what I wanted. So, I like the coat. It's light and it fits well. At least, I think it does. Thing is, It was obviously bought before and sent back. That's okay, it happens. But no one checked to see if it was clean or dirty. It is covered by what I guess is cat hair. Could be dog hair though. But there is hair everywhere on the coat. And some other stuff too. The bag containing the coat was ripped from side to side, carelessly but the hair is where they lost their stars. No one checked it? No one checked it is has been worn before? If it was even clean? And what kind of human send back clothes covered by cat hair!? For the price I paid, more expensive because it's the largest size I guess, I'd think I'd deserve A CLEAN COAT! What is wrong with you people? Check your merchandise!I am 5'8' and 175lbs. I ordered a large and it fit perfect. The arm length could have been a tad longer for using the thumb holes, but the sleeves are still on the longer side as far as women's jackets go. I used to have the Carhartt Equator jacket which I loved, but sadly lost. This jacket is similar in construction but more substantial for a rain jacket, it is not as light as a "wind breaker" and will probably get me through the winter months as an out-and-about jacket if I layer it, which I have room for. I like the length in the back. Would recommend this jacket, especially for taller girls who struggle with torso and sleeve length.I love love love this jacket. I usually wear a size 16 or XL. I bought one size up as per the other comments and I’m glad I did. One size up will let you put a sweater underneath and still have some room. I’ve worn this out in Canada in -36 C and it kept me warm. Very breathable and the waterproof outlet layer works well. It also has extra fabric on the back so the jacket covers your bum, i love that as well because it blocks so much more cool drafts going up and under the jacket. I love this jacket and it’s worth every penny!
