It is a tad bit heavy but it sure does the job.I like this coat and intend to keep it for a long time.Let me start off with some information that may help folks with sizing. When reading all the reviews here and on other sites, there was no doubt this would be an excellent and durable jacket; however, the data points regarding size by height and weight were all over the place. Granted, there isn't a right answer for everyone regarding the appropriate fit of the jacket so I'll let you know what worked for me. I'm right at 6' 0" and weight generally stays around 170 and have a reasonably fit build. My torso and arms are a little longer than normal and typically, if I can find it, a medium tall fits me perfectly. However, many manufacturers don't start including tall sizes until you get into large size jackets and up. Also, I have several other Carhartt jackets and oddly enough I typically need to get a large or sometimes even an xl to fit my arms (sounds odd I know). Another data point - in suits or sport coats I typically wear a 41L.So, I couldn't find anywhere locally that carried this exact jacket so I rolled the dice and ordered a large from Amazon knowing they have an awesome return policy. Well, as it turns out, I got lucky and the large fits me absolutely perfectly. Plenty of length in the arms and body but not too bulky. I could easily get a sweatshirt on under but its not like I'm swiming in the jacket. If I have one complaint it is that the arms are just a tad baggy but I'm positive if I had gotten a medium it would have been too short in the arms and body and possibly a little tight in the chest. The extra room in the arms doesn't really bother me and it doesn't look bad, just a little more bulk/room than I would prefer in a perfect world.Overall, as it is clear in other reviews, this is an incredibly warm and durable jacket. I couldn't be happier with the purchase.*** OVERALL IMPRESSION ***I am really pleased with this jacket and expect to use it for years to come. I was looking for something mid-weight for fall and early spring, and I think I've found it. Comfortable, warm, good looking, incredibly well made, and surprisingly well-priced. Add some layering and you could wear this through the winter in many climates.*** FIT & FORM ***This jacket has an excellent, trim fit. I'm 5'11", 165 lbs, and most of Carhartt's products are cut for my more...rotund brethren. No bulging beer belly here. I ordered a medium and it fits well with room for some layering. The back has some pleats so you have a full range of motion. Really good pockets; the main outer ones are at the right height for your hands, and the angle ensures stuff won't fall out. The zippered breast pocket is a must. Inside, there are two good sized pockets, one zippered, one velcro. The cuffs are fantastic - elastic inside keeps out the wind and weather, but the sleeve extends over it. This does two things: (i) insulated gloves will fit over the elastic but under the sleeve, improving the seal, and (ii) it looks better than just plain elastic. That, combined with the straight bottom makes for a much cleaner, 'stylish' design.*** MATERIAL & CONSTRUCTION ***This is typical Carhartt construction. If you've bought their stuff before, you know what I mean. If you haven't, that roughly translates to 'build like a tank'. You could wear this thing on job sites for years before it would be any worse for the wear. It's double- or triple-stitched where it needs it. Tough, rugged exterior (although this 'sandstone duck' is softer and less restrictive than their normal heavy canvas) will block the wind. A little waterproofing spray will help keep off the rain and snow. The fleece-like liner is cozy and warm. Solid, heavy zippers won't crap out on you.I purchased this jacket primarily for doing work outdoors, mainly farm work, brush clearing, etc... during the NC winter. I have other high quality jackets from Patagonia and Mt. Hardware which are outstanding, but those are more for technical, high speed - low drag, outdoor recreation and I found they were getting tore up when running chainsaws, tending burn piles and wrenching on tractors. The Carhartt fits those needs perfectly, it is tough, very durable and doesn't look like crap if it gets dirty. The jacket is warm but it is not overwhelmingly hot for NC winters - good for being active and doing work outdoors. I wanted the trademark Carhartt brown color but they were selling at a premium on Amazon so I went with the Light Brown and I'm glad I did. It's a more subtle brown, doesn't scream country/rural/farmer as much as the trademark brown. In my opinion its a more versatile color for someone that is fashion aware and is okay blending into the yuppie masses of the suburban landscape. However, when you show up to work in the field, the Light Brown jacket is as ready to do its job for you as any other color in Carhartt's line up would be.I'm about 5'8" 150lbs, 30" waist and the small fits perfectly. I tried on the medium at a store and it just looked too large on me. I do CCW AIWB and I find I have to suck-in a little to get the zipper started, but once it is zipped the jacket actually helps to hold my handgun in place comfortably on my waist line.Love it. But I had to send my medium size back. I ended up getting a size small locally. I'm typically a medium, 5'9", 160lbs.I don't like loose jackets or clothes in general, others might. Really love this one, though. I have another Carhartt that's similar but very old, that I bought used when I was in college. That one is still holding up just as well but doesn't have the hood or fleece lining and that one really is too small :)This jacket is exactly what I was looking for. Fits perfect, its warm and comfortable and will probably last for almost forever. It replaces my last Carhartt jacket which has finally worn out. I tend to gush a bit about all Carhartt products because of their style and quality - which I have always loved. I have been wearing Carhartt products forever and will continue to do so.Bought this for my brother. He’s a big guy with a muscular build through the chest, back and shoulders and flat belly. Normally he would take an extra large in a jacket. But many of the reviews said this jacket fits big. So I decided to order a large. Turns out they were correct. It fits him perfectly. The Sherpa lining is soft and warm and the color of it is a nice contrast against the chocolate color. It looks great on him. And he absolutely loves it.I got the small. The fit is ok at the top but a bit tight at the bottom. around the waist The length was more of a concern though, it was too short although I am very short at 5' 2".I have so far worn it in -15C and it held up well to the cold.Vraiment un manteau tout aller, et super solide j'en un depuis 20 ans a travailler et le laver, je l'avait payer 100,00 chez Paul dans Homa maintenant fermé (snif) mais le même manteau....aussi robuste..
