Well made warm attractive fall coat. Like new denim used to be this canvas coat is very stiff to begin with but softens with wear. I like the rivets instead of buttons. No chance you'll ever have to sew anything on this coat. Do not size up. Fit is relaxed. I got a medium.Overall a solid jacket! When it came, it wasn't entirely what I expected. The fabric is very thick and bulky (as expected) but for a size Medium, it fits at least as a men's large for its roominess as well as body length and sleeve length. When I first put it on I felt that I was putting on a jacket that fits like a fireman's jacket. After a few minutes, I realized it was kinda awesome. I live in SF and took it on my windy roof for a test and realized a fantastic purchase. I recommend it if you're looking for a thick warm large fitting coat.excellent item. many thanksFor what other companies are charging for their chore coats and the value you actually get, I don't think you can beat Carhartt. This thing is built extremely tough and rugged. After reading reviews that said the size runs big, I ordered a size smaller. Normally I wear a XXL Tall and ordered a XL Tall and with a heavy flannel shirt and t-shirt underneath I still have plenty of room to work. I just wish there were more colors to choose from. A tip for those who don't like the stiffness of a new Carhartt; put your new jacket or coat in the clothes dryer with a couple of baseballs 60-90 minutes. Softens it right up. Just don't let wife know or put those baseballs where you never thought they would fit!Looks well made, the size "large" has sleeves that come half way down my hands (I'm 6' 2")... fortunately I didn't order the "tall" size based on previous reviews I've read. Like others, I would have preferred a strong zipper versus the buttons.I'm keeping the jacket though as it is mainly for when I'm clearing trees and bushes, I rather it be too big vs too tight.I usually buy a medium in everything, but I bought a small from reading reviews. I'm 5' 9", 155 lbs. it fits like a size 38 jacket would. The cotton duck is very stiff, I washed it in cold water, and line dried it. It loosened up the jacket a little, but even washing it in cold and line drying it, it did shrink a little in the sleeves. Which is ok because the sleeves were a little long. It still fits ok now, with room for a sweatshirt, that being said, with the sweatshirt on it's snug. If you want to layer underneath, I'd go with your normal size, and if it's still too big washing it in hot water and drying it on high would probably shrink it more.Good quality. Nice looking. I might try and wax it at some point. For the price it's a pretty good deal. Haven't worn it much, so I can't speak to its longevity. When Carhartt made their jackets more Relaxed they weren’t kidding. I wish they wrote the chest measurements along with each size, because a L was maybe an XXL. I had to order down to a M, which fits me a little snug but otherwise way better than the L did.I recently got a Detroit jacket with optional hood, and since the Chore Coat uses the same hood I decided to purchase it too. Also more importantly because, since my Detroit (in Small, regular fit) fits me perfectly if a bit snug (not much room for layering) I hoped that the Chore Coat, (being 'loose fit'), would have left room for layering, hence maybe usable in winter. I was not disappointed and in fact the two garments fit the same except for the 'body' which is noticeable roomier (sleeves are slightly shorter though). I am a slim build 176cm 38.5" chest 69Kg and the coats fits me a bit large in a tee but perfect with a sweater + down jacket underneath. Layering is required in winter since this coat is NOT warm.I see many buyers complaining about the size (i.e. fits large, which it does) so here are my measurements for size S (garment laid flat): Pit to pit 21", pit to cuff 21", collar to hem 30" (rear) 27" (front), shoulders 18.5", hip/waist slightly tapered from 22" at the gut to 21.5" at the bottom hem. Overall I am quite happy, except I would have preferred a warmer coat (eg sherpa lined). Also, the shiny golden buttons look cheap and tacky so I have replaced them with sew-on horn buttons (photo, with optional hood which I also recommend). After reading other reviews I seen the common mention of the coat running large. I’m normally a large so I ordered a medium and it fits perfect. I’ll be using the coat mainly in my workshop which is cold in the wintertime so I still have room to layer up with the coat and to move freely. The coat is awesome. Really warm, really well made and looks great. It’s stiff material but not as stiff as I expected or even as it looks in the pic but for a coat like this I want it to be able to take plenty of abuse. Super coat, really fast delivery and better price than other sites (even carhartt site)I've had two of these coats. Both arrived faulty. One had part of the fabric tucked under the shoulder seam which had been sewed like that. The other one had stitching coming away down one of the front seams. Very poorly put together and I expect a lot better from carhartt. This product was way too large even though I bought a size smaller than usual from reading reviews. But this was still at least a size too big to even be a roomy fit. Be careful when ordering as to send back you have to pay to return! The coat itself is really good quality, thick and warm. Just very disappointed with the fit and cost of return.Freakin epic jacket, but Definitely downsize atleast a size. I’m a medium in just about everything I wear and even the small is a bit spacious on top of just a t shirt. But with a jumper on it’s perfect. The arms are more of a looser fit aswell.
